Friday Inspiration : Oprah's 3 Lessons

I really urge you listen to this video.  There is something about  graduating from University for those that have done the University thing.  I was so blessed to have attended one of the most prestigious universities in South Africa and do an amazing degree.  I do remember my graduation day.  The world was my oyster and the possibilities were so limitless.  It is good to go back to a space where you realise just how much possibility is out there.

I do believe that entrepreneurial energy is the one we all can benefit from in our work and play.  And it is not about owning and running your own business necessarily.  It is about how you balance resource, time, creativity, risk and action.  And this can apply to any part of your life to apply that energy.

Oprah is one of my all time heroes and someone I have so much love and respect for.  This video reminds why I love her so much!  I hope her wisdom helps you be the best you can be.

5 Things To Note About Learning Something New

Jamie Hall - University Of Cape Town, South Africa
CrazeeBee's favourite University spot

I love the sentiment of not being busy for busy sake.  I love that it is about getting results.  But in order to get results, one needs to keep your knowledge relevant which then keeps your awareness relevant which makes your choices relevant.  So it starts with learning!

  1. TV is a time thief!  I know for sure.  Try and get some learning time in over TV
  2. You are able to teach yourself and do not always need a class for that
  3. Learning can be as simple as reading and internalising
  4. You know who is successful around you in work and life!  Why not unpack what they know and their source of info
  5. The goal to add value simply by being you and the thinking you bring.  That correlates to how you develop/evolve your point of view

Learning Together Is Sexy

I realised after my last Golf lesson just how sexy learning can be with someone.  To learn means to be open, to drop your guard and let a new idea be processed by yourself.  There is an element to let go and be vulnerable.  It is putting what you know and do not know out there for others to see that are learning with you.

So there is something to be said about taking up a new hobby, craft or exploring a skill you are new at.  When you allow for yourself to be open to digest the newness in front of you and you get to do it with other people, there is a sexiness that prevails.

You truly start seeing who they are.  It has nothing to do with how they look but with how they respond.  And for some, it is uber sexy and for others it is simply a deeper understanding of who that person is.  It has just been a fascinating process learning a new sport with other people.  There is a comfortability developing and a closeness as we drop our camouflages and what we know and simply open up to embrace the newness of a skill and insight as well as each other!

It's SEXY!

The Game Of Golf = Livin LIfe

So I have started taking Golf Lessons.  I resisted golf as I thought how boring a sport.  No outlet of stress or aggression like my favourite sport tennis.  But I am two lessons in and I see a very profound practice that reminds me how special life can be if one just remembers!

Golf is about technique and applying laws.  When you apply the technique and the law, the golf clubs do their job and the ball goes to the best place it can based on that.  Now add the terrain!  It will never be the same and will change.  The weather conditions will also change.  But the drill is the same.  Apply the technique and the laws and the ball will land in the best place it can.  You will never get the perfect ball 100% of the time.  But wherever the ball lands, you choose the club, you apply the technique and allow the club to do it's job.

So looking at life.  We have the clubs of Gratitude, Forgiveness, Respect, Positive Thinking etc.  And when it happens, the terrain presents itself.  So why not simply apply the techniques and let the clubs do their work?  It's when we forget to apply it that it goes a little off course and we need to play a few more shots to get the "ball" where we want.

Who thought Golf could be such a profound example of how to live life.  LOVE IT!
