So I have started taking Golf Lessons. I resisted golf as I thought how boring a sport. No outlet of stress or aggression like my favourite sport tennis. But I am two lessons in and I see a very profound practice that reminds me how special life can be if one just remembers!
Golf is about technique and applying laws. When you apply the technique and the law, the golf clubs do their job and the ball goes to the best place it can based on that. Now add the terrain! It will never be the same and will change. The weather conditions will also change. But the drill is the same. Apply the technique and the laws and the ball will land in the best place it can. You will never get the perfect ball 100% of the time. But wherever the ball lands, you choose the club, you apply the technique and allow the club to do it's job.
So looking at life. We have the clubs of Gratitude, Forgiveness, Respect, Positive Thinking etc. And when it happens, the terrain presents itself. So why not simply apply the techniques and let the clubs do their work? It's when we forget to apply it that it goes a little off course and we need to play a few more shots to get the "ball" where we want.
Who thought Golf could be such a profound example of how to live life. LOVE IT!
I had one golf lesson a few years ago and loved it too, I found it was so therapeutic, and as I read your post I found myself wondering why I did not keep at it.......
ReplyDeleteI hear you. It does require a trust in the technique through. I find that you naturally want to do what you think will work and then it does not. It is when you practice the technique and trust in it that it goes well. For me it's about the practice! But will go with it. xoxo
