I hope that Halloween was awesome this weekend past. That all the parties were fabulous! I have recently teamed up with a doctor to help me lose this excess weight that I have been carrying for as long as I can remember. The idea is to lose this excess 10 kgs that I carry generally and keep it off. What I was not prepared for was what I would experience in the city with this new framework :
- Sugar is everywhere! This is from alcohol to yummy sauces to just all that delicious food. And sugar is the number one source of carrying excess weight so I am just so shocked at how much sugar there is out there.
- Convenience is not healthy. With loooooong work hours or a long day in general. Who has energy to cook when you walk in your home door? So the drive-throughs are so welcomed but not necessarily the right thing for you on a consistent basis
- Supersize is everywhere! I am amazed how big the portion sizes are when I now realise what I actually should be eating in terms of portion size. I now see how we generally tempted everyday to be overeaters!
- Water is not drunk like it should be. We all need to take in liquids. But the cappuccinos, alcohol, fizzy drinks, flavoured water all start substituting the basic taste of water that has all we need
- Being an outcast or encouraged to be not healthy. It is not as blatant as that. But dare you not drink alcohol at a party or eat and indulge at a gathering, a work function, a working lunch, etc! You are so the outcast for wanting to be healthy. Does take a bit of courage to take on those looks of disbelief that you actually making healthy choices!
So to all those trying to make healthier choices in the city, all I can bless you with is wisdom and creativity. Because it ain't all easy going out there. Hugz
